Tony Hillerman's NavajolandLaurance D. Linford, anthropologist by training and long time director of the famous Gallup Inter-Tribal Ceremonial, published an essential book on the Navajo Reservation titled Navajo Places: History, Legend, Landscape. It was the culmination of many years of research and naturally led to a second book title Tony Hillerman's Navajoland: Hideouts, Haunts and Havens in the Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee Mysteries, published in 2001 by the University of Utah Press. Both books are extremely useful for understanding the huge Navajo Reservation with its variety of climates, altitudes, varied terrain and historical places. The second book specifically charts and documents the many places mentioned or featured in Hillerman's Reservation mysteries. Navajo Places had a very limited hardcover edition, but Hillerman's Navajoland was published only in paperback. Both books are thoroughly illustrated with photographs of the actual places. We have three versions of the book available.
